PlateHawk ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information when you use PlateHawk:

• Account information: Email address and password when you create an account.
• Preferences: Dietary restrictions, household size, budget, zip code, and grocery store preferences you provide during onboarding.
• Usage data: Meal plans viewed, shopping lists created, deals clicked, and features used within the app.
• Payment information: Billing details processed securely through Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
• Device information: Browser type, operating system, and IP address for security and analytics purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Personalize your meal plans and grocery deal recommendations based on your location and preferences.
• Process subscription payments and manage your account.
• Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, subscription receipts).
• Improve PlateHawk's features and fix bugs using aggregated, anonymized usage data.
• Send product updates and promotions — you can unsubscribe at any time.

3. Third-Party Services

PlateHawk integrates with the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Stripe: Payment processing. Your payment data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Postmark: Transactional email delivery (account confirmations, receipts, password resets).
• Meta (Facebook) Pixel: Advertising measurement and retargeting. You can opt out via Facebook's privacy controls.
• Flipp / Grocery Retailers: We access publicly available weekly circular data to surface deals. No personal data is shared with retailers.
• Neon (PostgreSQL): Our database provider stores your account and preference data securely.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your account at any time by emailing info.platehawk@gmail.com. We will delete your personal data within 30 days of a verified deletion request.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption (AES-256-GCM for stored data, TLS for data in transit) to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

6. Cookies

PlateHawk uses session cookies for authentication and local storage to save your app preferences. We do not use persistent tracking cookies beyond what is required for the Meta Pixel (see above).

7. Children's Privacy

PlateHawk is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data. To exercise these rights, email info.platehawk@gmail.com.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice in the app. Continued use of PlateHawk after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
